You may be able to get a secured credit card but it will definitely cost you. Most of the cards out there for people with poor credit charge an arm and a leg in interest and fees because they can. You can 't get a card anywhere else. Between annual fees etc most by the time you get the card it is almost maxed out because the balance will also usually be very low. There are things in your credit report that are going to keep you from getting a credit card. You need to take a good close look at your credit report and why your score is so low. You credit report is made up of how much you owe 30% how timely your payments 35% how many accounts you have and how old those accounts are. Did you know that 83% of americans have errors on their credit reports causing them to have poor credit. Did you know that you have the legal right to have those errors removed? With soon to have 2 decades in analyzing and working with consumer credit, I knew that people were just unaware of the fact that there are laws in existence that help even the playing field when it comes to their credit reports. Everyday I personally witness errors, flaws and outdated information on people 's credit reports. The fact that we as a people are being judged, having our self worth being expressed in terms of how well we pay our bills is a scary thing. Wake up people! The same companies that our tax dollars are bailing out for not being able to pay their own bills, are the ones whose hypocrisy is being ignored while they dictate what the future can and cannot hold for us. Understanding what your credit report says about you and being able to do something about it does not have to be a lesson in futility. There are laws out there and people willing to help you.
