If the credit reports paid that is all you can do as it will report for 10 years just like a chapter 7 as it is public record

Just because it is paid, that does not mean it will be removed. Just as if you were late on a credit card month after month after month and then finally got it paid off, the fact that you were late consistently 2 years ago would not be wiped off either. Your credit record is a picture of your credit over the past 7-10 years, not what is still owing now.

You need to go to the creditor and get a letter stating that the account has been satisfied. Then you need to go to the court that placed the judgment, and pay their fees and costs. Once that is done, the clerk will issue a letter that the judgment is satisfied. The original copy will go in the judgment file. Get the clerk to make 5 certified copies. File one in the court as a legal record. Keep another with your records. Contact the 3 credit bureaus and tell them you want the judgment removed. They will send you a form letter to fill out. Attach the letter from the court to their letter, and fill out the bureau 's form letter. Make sure you send them "Return Receipt Requested. " Staple the return receipts to your copy, and then file that with your personal records. Once the bureau confirms your letter, they have 30 days to take action. You may not get it removed, but they have to mark it as paid.

The judgment will age off your credit report in 7 years or your state 's statutory max, which ever is longer. Makes no difference whether it 's paid or not. You do want to make sure the judgment holder processes the paperwork to the court to show the judgment satisfied. Once that goes thru the court records, it will update on your credit report to show the judgment paid.

Bottom line: you CAN 'T get it removed; just updated to "paid " status. It 'a public court record and part of your credit history that will have to age it 's way off your credit report.
